Today was a good day

The RV grin is starting to grow on my face. Moved to the airport and attached to wings after it arrived. My A&P that is doing the condition inspection on my Bonanza came down and lended a hand. He brought some super slippery lube and the spar bolts seated with encouragement from a mallet.

The wrecker guy was super. He really went the extra mile securing the plane and it earned him a $100 tip. You could see the RV grin on his face when I gave it to him.

The FSDO also called and inspection is on Tuesday afternoon. Insurance agent called and taken care of and I need a sign off from a CFI with 25 hours in type.

Today was a good day!

That’s awesome! I have to say seeing the no paint and hand painted experimental on the side gives it a cool rat rod look. Brought a smile to my face. No matter if you paint or not it still looks cool!

That’s a sharpie at its best and serves for placarding until it gets to the paint shop. I can’t find the decal sticker and with the FSDO coming in a few days, you do what you gotta do. Hey, I save 5 bucks on the sticker and 10 bucks on the shipping. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks,
W

Now that I’m home, a few more details.

Paperwork was dead on. No squawks found. 2 FSDO inspectors (both A &P’s). A couple of questions but nothing out of the ordinary. They loved the panel and how everything was laid out. Extremely complimentary on attention to detail and how neat the wiring was.

They loved the additional inspection panels and commented that it was obvious that I had maintenance in mind.

Did not ask to see building log or photographs. Their closing comments were it was one of the nicest home builds they have seen.

Boelube and I have a date tomorrow with a few gagillion fairing and cover plate screws. A couple of things to tidy up and first flight will hopefully be Saturday.

What happened to the back of your canopy? Zero hours and it already cracked?
Since they tend to crack there, I did a preemptive strike and split the canopy and fiberglassed a targa strip. I also like the look.

Today put a rather large RV GRIN on my mug. First flight. CHT’s were high and I will retard the timing on the pmags per the info I was given by someone who knows a boat load more than I do about these things. It flew hands off when leveled.

If I knew how to post a video, I would post the first take off and landing.
