Tip: Tipup Instrument Panel Top/Fwd Angle

Be aware that even though the plans state that the view for fabricating the angle that goes along the top fwd of the instrument panel on a tipup aircraft is full scale, it is not to scale!

Use the dim's and not the drawing for layout of the notches along the flange of that angle!

If you do not, you will be cutting out another one!

How do you know it?

Because I now have a nice piece of scrap angle with little notches cut out on one side

Go to Home Depot and get some of their 1/8 angle. 3/4x3/4 it works well and is stronger. It is a good place to use a heavier piece because passengers have a habit of grabbing the instrument panel to help them get out of the plane when you're not looking and it won't bend.

Too late... I already made the second one and I don't like the idea of making a third...

Thanks for the tip though. If I ever do it again I might just do this.
