I'm building an RV-8 and wanted to install some tie down fixtures about every 8 inches or so in both the front and rear baggage areas. Prices for the cool looking anodized tie down brackets ranged from $8 - $33 each. Much too pricey for my budget and this economy.
I picked up some eye bolts and countersunk washers in the aviation isle at Lowes grabbed some #8 nutplates, cut out some doublers, and installed 12 tie down fixtures for an out of pocket expense of less than 5 dollars.
I ended up putting a nylon washer between the countersunk washer and baggage floor.
