If anyone has any experience replacing traditional washers and felts in Cleveland wheels with Timken grease seals, would you post any lesson’s learned or photos?

I ordered a set of seals for the wheels on my RV-4.

Thanks,

Those Timken bearings, as used on the Cleveland 500X5.0 (#140-78B) wheels will work with either the felt seals/2 seal rings, or the newer 1 piece seals.

Here's a link to the illustrated parts breakdown for the Cleveland 40-78B wheel assembly that shows the molded grease seal that supersedes the felt and the two grease The actual image is link for a pop-over half way down the page under the heading "Documents". seal rings: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/stpages/clevwheelassy4078b.php

Actually doing it is straight forward just as it appears. Make sure you leave out all three items (2 seal rings, 1 felt) on both sides of each wheel if you're upgrading to the molded grease seal. Thats 2 felts and 4 seal rings per wheel.
