The plan this year for my -4 is to upgrade panel to include G3X, 7" cause it will fit better in the panel but gets too busy with all the info. I am considering replacing current MGL Blaze with a JP Instruments EDM 350. It's a bit more costly to do it this was but there will be enough room to get radio and transponder up there as well. Any thoughts, helpful hints, etc will be appreciated. Rick

rick57,
I put one into my -4 about 5 years ago. Previously I had a single MAP/oil press/oil temp gauge.
The EDM 350 was a big upgrade.
Benefit: it came with the harness. Each yellow was labeled for dummies like me.
The install was absolutely straight forward and with a single problem.
Big plus: the little white button to lean- genius.

If I can do this, you can too.

Gonna order one today. These now can be added to as you need additional features according to sales at JP. Many thanks, Rick

You'll have to make a new panel anyway. Go for the 10", with the G5 as back up. Both can control the A/P if installed. A seperate engine monitor is not required. You can set a variety of parameters on the G3X with visual or aural warnings. I've scalloped the panel at the bottom as I also have the 507 A/P controller. There's enough space if planned carefully. As the display sits proud of the panel, you'll need to stay well clear from the top of the panel, otherwise the canopy will either not close or hit it.
