RE: Sticky valve on a Thunderbolt IO390 …RV6-KPTW
Angel number?
Anyway, one photo of the valve stem and one of the crap wiped off the reamer. It did not take a lot of “stuff” to stick the valve.
Using MMO in fuel for last 300 hours with no hints of EGT drops.

RE: Rudder trailing edge to tailwheel distance? …g zero
Just sold this . Maybe give you some ideas .

For those wanting to build a wing stand
…hopefully this picture speaks volumes. Rudy Greyling (member)10 plus years ago made a set in South Africa and bolted them to his floor. Thought they were the cats meow so I made my own set when I built my wings. You can adj the spar so it is perfectly straight. Put a block under the lower spar per plans to remove any dip when building. I just built a simple block on block with althread and used it like a turn buckle like others before me. The wing is rock solid for riveting and anything else you need to do.
You can see spacers on the side closest to you as my garage floor slopes.
Anyhow hope this answers some questions.

One more tip …bertschb
Whenever possible I rest the back of my left hand on the skin while holding the "barrel" of the rivet gun with my index finger and thumb. That steadies the gun so it can't drift off the rivet. My right hand pulls the trigger. It's very stable. Of course, this only works if you have a helper holding the bucking bar which is pretty rare for me.
If you look closely at the photo below, you'll see some rivets with very little distortion to the skin. I'm a new builder and nothing I do will win any kind of award. Just trying to highlight that it is possible to set a "clean" rivet. Trust me, if I can do it, anybody can do it.

Are these the aileron pushrods?
The instructions in section 23 call for a part named "ST4130-035 X 1/2 (powder coated)" for the aileron pushrods. But the closest thing I have in my kit is a pair of 1/2" uncoated steel tube in the photo attached. This is the last section in the wing kit, other than the wing tips, and I can't...

Sticky valve on a Thunderbolt IO390
Over the last 6 months I've been trying to learn and understand as much as possible about how sticky valves form and what one can do to mediate the issue. I've watched many U-tube videos and Mike Busch seems to have a very good Morning Sickness 101 presentations. I'm convinced based on...

Rudder trailing edge to tailwheel distance?
My current home airport is a grass strip, and while it's in good condition, moving the airplane by hand any significant distance is still quite tiring. But, I may have need to tow the airplane a ways on occasion. So I have a crazy idea inspired by how we moved Dad's RV-6 to the airport many...

Mushroom head rivet problems
My vertical stabilizer has been complete for weeks. Today I took it to an experienced builder to ask his opinion. For the skin rivets completed with the mushroom head and rivet gun I have a lot of marks, some significant. Bondo will help, I will always know, minimal experienced eyes will know...
