Wishing you and yours a happy, safe and RV-filled weekend!

I painted my aircraft as well (back in 2011) No experience - zip. It was a fun experience, and I would do it again.
I had an advantage over your situation, my aircraft was still in 'pieces', so I could put the wings on a rotisserie.
I used Stewart Systems for my aircraft, primarily because I was going to paint it at home in a homemade paint booth in my garage, and I didn't want to kill my neighbor's pets with toxic fumes.
At the time, Stewart recommended a 4 coat process, with 10 minutes between coats. No problem for the wings, but a bit of a challenge on the fuselage.
I picked a 'simple' paint scheme with minimal tape-up. A friend in the vinyl business provided the decals.
I'd would say it's a "3 foot" paint job, and I am happy with the results. If someone picks at it, I can also say it was a 2K paint job, and that introduces some perspective. Its 15 years later, and besides a few scuffs here and there, it still looks like a 3 ft paintjob.

Gaggle to the launch
6 RV’s launched out of Fort Myers Page today at approximately 5:30. Heading north east we were all excited about the Artemis launch hoping it would go today. We weren’t disappointed. It was awe inspiring to watch the rocket knowing we are going back to the moon. It was emotional for me, I was 8...

DIY painting your RV - what do I need to know from people who have actually done their own paint??
Hi all, I recently got a wild hair to repaint my Flying RV-8. For one, I'm not at all a fan of the original paint job (beautiful professional paintjob, but hate the colors) as well as I recently did some SB work on the rear stabs / elevators and such and it needs a repaint. My desire is a...

AI Paint Prototyping
I found a great use for Generative AI in the recent days - prototyping some paint schemes. I've been manually drawing some designs on the 3-view pages i printed out, but could never really visualize things properly. I recently finished a flight and took some nice pictures of my -7 in the sunset...

Roll your own FI pump setup?
Hey guys, for those of us on a budget. I understand that the pumps widely used by the EFI people here are Walbro GSL393. There are plenty of options for Pre and Post filters like Holy and summit. But I am wondering what the pump bypass would have to be and were to get it? Check valve...

RV-8 Flaps differences between DWG RV8-14A and RV8-14B?
Hey Everyone! Working on an RV-8 and we discovered during the condition inspection the flap rods where chaffing on the fuselage pretty significantly. When I was reading through the build manual and drawings I see the build manual references to DWG RV8-14B for building the flaps and then DWG...

Get the cap all the cool kids are wearing! I don’t get a penny. It’s around $15. $5 more if you want your N-number on the back (I put 'STAFF' on the back of mine because it makes me laugh. Put STAFF on yours too if it makes you smile). And down the road $10 to the charity of your choice...
