Milestone: Hung Engine …kentlik 7A
Hung the motor yesterday by myself. It wasn't terrible. You will see no sump. That is a bummer. I had to order the proper fitting one. Sad it was.
Fairing is decent, but not great. The top targa band I made some calculated mistakes. Will have to revisit some remedies to that in the future. Also sad.

Motorcycle Lift Used …mc607
I used my motorcycle lift to fit the LE and the tanks. Worked well to fit, file, repeat.

VH-XVG flying phase2 …Tassie
Finally finished! This all-slow-build RV-10 received its phase2 CofA a few days ago. Took a little over 10 years to build down in Hobart, Tasmania. Designed for comfortable cruising around Australia, includes Barrett IO-540 with CAI, A/C, SDSEFI and a full interior/overhead. Paint job by myself, which was hard. Fast and smooth, flies great.

… reassembled RV 10 post paint
“I reassembled my 10 after paint this week. Almost 10 years to the day from starting also. Except I’ve been flying it bare for almost 3 years. I’m calling it finished now!”

rcarsey G5 Install Update
Ok so I finished the install today. I ended up doing the G5 recess-mount from Stein/Aircraft Spruce (i don't think its a Garmin product). The exact placement of the G5 could have been a little better.... but because I was also trying to completely use/cover-up the 3" hole I erroneously drilled.. the exact placement suffered and led to some interference (diagrams below).

Full Circle
…Toddav8r
Started this build in 2005. Three duty stations later, life was overloaded with a demanding Pentagon assignment and busy young family. After attending the Dave Ramsey course with the wife, sold the completed airframe (completed and ready for canopy bubble, engine, prop, and avionics) to a good friend, which quickly aided our Dave Ramsey related debt goals. Credit to the wife, she wasn’t really hip on selling the project. In fact her reaction when I brought up the idea to sell was “who are you and what have you done with my husband?” Anyway, stayed connected to the project while my good friend finished it literally to my spec (to include paint job and even my N number I had reserved). He first flew it in 2018. After retiring from the USAF in 2019 and starting my corporate flying career, I got to finally fly it in 2020. A few months ago he called and said it was time for him to sell the RV-8, and he wanted me to buy it. As much as I wanted it, and I'm in a much better financial position, I still kind of hesitated at such an expense (with 2 kids in college and a barrel racing daughter), but credit to the wife again….she said “you need to buy that airplane”. I instantly replied “Yes Ma’am!” Kit number 82436 has come full circle, and I couldn’t be happier!
