… getting this weekend’s thread off to a start. The weather here in Dallas, Texas isn’t looking like we’re gonna be flying RVs much today. 😔 Good morning to work on the lawnmower. 😜

Emergency landing RV14A exhaust weld failure
Flying my new RV14A home yesterday with 45 hours on the IO-390-EXP. Landed at the first leg of the trip, full power take off and then heard a steady banging from the engine at 1,000 feet AGL. CO2 alarm from the G3X. Closed cabin heat, opened cabin vents, reduced thrust and CO2 levels started...

GPS175 to G3X Interconnect Questions
I'm adding a GPS 175 to my completed RV-12is. I have a pretty good grasp on the wiring that I need to do but I have some questions that fall in the easy/dumb category. Being an ELSA -12 builder I didn't have to think through the wiring scheme other than the most basic understanding. Garmin's...

Conical Bend Fun
I just bent my first side skin conical bend. I think it turned out decent. All the holes line up without to much trouble and I don’t see any cracks…yet 😬. However, I see that the side skin doesn’t quite cover the notches in the tail cone skin. It’s very slight so I’d guess it will be rectified...

Ground location
RV-8 with an aft battery and battery contractor. I'm going to put the lighting controller, the ADAHRS, and a few other boxes aft. Maybe a COM2 remote radio aft. Maybe keep the audio controller aft as well if I remote it. I'll feed the aft circuits through a fuse block. I need a ground bus...

ACK ELT E-04 installation/pics
Anyone have pics of their ACK ELT E-04 installation to replace the old ACK E-01? My new to me RV-6A originally had the old ACK E-01 121.5mhz unit from Van's mounted directly behind the pilot seat. The E-04 has a different mount footprint and is longer due to the lithium battery. I was thinking...

14A Vetterman 4 into 2 exhaust clearance
Is this a normal bottom clearance as the exhaust exits the cowl area. As seen in photo, pipes are 1/2” under nose gear link assembly. I can take the heel of my hand and knock that pipe into the white assembly. Do others with this same exhaust have the same clearance ?
