Things to do before mounting engine
I'm hoping to be ready to mount the engine next month. I'll have the main gear frp done this week and then the engine mount, nose wheel and frp. Is there anything else I should do before hanging engine? I know there was a post not long ago on this, but it's easier to find a dropped rivet.

Lord Mount Replacement
…RV8JD PIREP
Crib sheet. Note the difference between the upper and lower mounts, bolt lengths, and the extra washers on the bottom. Here is how they go on (my notes on the drawing):
Lord Mount Replacement
What are the required steps, tools, and approximate time to replace the "Lord" isolators? It appears we'll need some type of lift (chain hoist, engine picker) disconnect the cables (throttle, mixture, carb heat) disconnect governor cable? baffles? If we have the stuff & tools is this doable by...

Sizing wire for length and amps
This chart is what I got online but it wasn’t easy to find and want to confirm. You know you can’t believe what you find online anymore. Can someone confirm if the chart is correct. AC 43.13 is the documentation for a/c repair. I tried looking up an AC for wiring but couldn’t find what I...

RE Pitot Location and Tie Downs
…Foghorn PIREP
Mine is behind the spar and outside the bellcrank. No issue with the tie down ropes in my travels.
Pitot location and tie downs
I’m installing a regulated Garmin GAP 26 pitot tube with AOA on my RV-8. I know a lot of you have installed your pitot tubes behind the spar and that it works fine there. But I’m concerned about tie down chains hitting the pitot tube if it’s there. I was thinking about attaching the pitot tube...

Canopy UHMW Block Failure (Disintegration) Applies to RV6, 7, 8, and 9
Yesterday, as I attempted to open the sliding canopy on my RV8, it got "stuck/hung up". Upon closer inspection, I realized that the UHNW block on the sliding rail was DISINTEGRATING!!! It crumbled into several pieces. I could then lift the canopy's rear end up without resistance! I have no idea...

“The big join” degrees of difference allowed (torque)
I just did “the big join” and my degrees of difference is 1.0. How much is too much? Should I uncleco and try again? And yes I measured from the carry through (wing spar) too. I always get a 1 degree difference.

Wires Held By Wire Mounts
Super basic question - I am using wire mounts glued to the skin to take wires back to the tail. Since there are only a few wires going to the very back, the diameter of the "bundle" is pretty small. When I zip tie the wires to the mounts there is still some wiggle room because the base where...

Source for engine baffle ignition wire seal
I used these during build, now 20 years later I’m replacing engine and needs to get one of these. I think I got them from aircraft spruce, now I don’t see them in catagolg. Any one know of a source? Thanks
