VAF POSTS & RV NEWS THAT CAUGHT MY EYE.....dr:

Harness routing through console …Reflex reply
…If I had it to do over again, I'd use the slanted panel, that would solve the problem. The trade off would be the added difficulty of accessing the fuel pump. I think I'd rather have additional parts to remove for access rather than do all that work to get the harness from the tunnel to the panel.

Annunciator Panel …Halleffect PIREP
I looked at that system early on, too. There's a builder in the UK with one installed. I was interested in warning lamps with built-in switches to cancel the light but retain the warning on the PFD. Right on cue, Garmin came out with G3X ver. 9.21 that incorporated this feature for a Caution, Warning or a combination light.
You can't miss one of these lamps when they're on, plus you'll get an audio alert of the CAS message in your headset. Combination lamp/switches are from SteinAir.

Low EGT and CHT, one cylinder, high power …Girraf has same issue
I've got a similar issue on my carbureted O-320-D2A in my Piper Cherokee. I just installed a CGR-30P and noticed that in the climb at full power, Cylinder #2 EGT and CHT are oddly low, but then converges once in cruise and the mixture is leaned for economy cruise. My best guess is that #2 is running excessively rich at full power but I'm still researching other theories. The engine sounds perfectly happy in climb so I'm not concerned but Its odd to see in the data. I might try a partial power climb on my next flight to see if the EGT/CHT spread decreases in the climb.
The CHT behavior where #1 and #2 cross each other is consistent on every flight. So strange!

RV-8 Excess Cabin Pressure …markpsmith PIREP
Thanks for the tip. I did exactly the same.
After my first flight there was vibration from rear canopy. Applied the Lowe’s 1/2” by 1/2” expandable foam weather seal (see pic) on the underside of the fiberglass skirt and there are zero vibrations now. This stuff sticks very well. Little harder to get canopy opened and closed but makes a great seal. Glad I didn’t drill too.

Fuel Tank Leak Repair PIREP …fixnflyguy
I have done a bunch, 4s,6s,8s,10s..there is no shortcut worth taking. Pull the tank and cut access holes. Vans sells the cover plate kits, I make all my own and get the closed end rivets from ACS.

Hunting Gear Mods ….some PIREPs
I’ve done a fair amount of hunting out of the RV, pretty much a solo endeavor due to weight and space considerations. Passenger seat back out is the way to go. 48-52 quart cooler in the passenger seat with soft rifle case between it and the sidewall, or bow case bungeed on top, works well. Here’s my loadout for a trip to Manitoba in 2012.
