Tailcone Transport Frame

The RV-12's tailcone is a real PITA to transport, because it is nine feet long and floppy as a wet tortilla. Here's a fix, assuming you have some scrap steel and know how to weld. It's a simple frame with tabs match drilled to the overlap seams. A handful of clecos does the rest. A person can easily carry the tailcone by handling the frame, and It allows the use of conventional hooked tiedowns.

for us non-welders, I made a custom cradle by tracing the largest & smallest bulkheads onto some plywood and cutting out a place to rest the completed tailcone that was to come. The inside edges were lined w/ pool noodles. A simple stand with wheels completed the cradle.

Same concept but with wood. for storing the tail vertically. Clecos will hold just fine in #30 holes drilled though the tail skin holes into wood strips. then screw the frame to the end of the strips.
