SV-6 Vent fit

I am on page 29-21, Step 11, and fitting the SV-6 vent into the SV-10fresh air vent.

The forward face of the SV-10 is perfectly flats, as is the face of the SV-6.

It seems as if the diameter of the SV-6 is too large or the inside diameter of the SV-10 is too small?

Am I the only one that has had this issue?

I am thinking of putting a spacer in between the SV-6 and SV-10?

You may want to call Vans about this. I’ve had issues in the past where they’ve gone and pulled parts off the shelf to compare to my parts. It may be that the SV10 was not formed properly. Doubtful there’s an issue with the aluminum vent.

On the same subject, what is the purpose of silicone adhesive between the SV-6 and the SV-10?

There are 3 screws?

The silicone just seals better to prevent air leaks when the vent is closed (helpful if you fly where there's a cold winter).

I had the same on my -10 and I removed a little material from the outside of the forward end of the ring (where it says to scuff on the drawing) and it fitted fine. I removed maybe 10 thou with sandpaper. The problem was that the ring was bulging on the diameter at the fwd end. I just took it back to parallel.
