Bennington STEMworks in collaboration with Southwest Tech, the regional technical center and EAA chapter 1375 at Bennington airport (DDH) is building an RV12iS with a group of teenage students. It is an afterschool program staffed by volunteers and is based in the Engineering Laboratory of SWTech on the high school campus in Bennington VT. It is open to all high school students served by SWTech and runs for 90 minutes after school, Monday through Thursday from 2:15 to 3:45.

We started building in September of 2025 and plan to finish in 2027 when we shall sell the aircraft to fund another build. You can follow progress on the EAA builders' log site at STEMworks and on Facebook at BenningtonSTEMworks.

That is great to see. I'm a volunteer mentor at the West Michigan Aviation Academy (9-12 STEM charter school). The students built a Carbon Cub EX2 over a 4 year period and are restoring a glider and a Piper Scout. We hope to be starting an RV12iS either next January 2027 or September 2027. I really enjoy working with focused, motivated students.
