My sprag clutch is toast.
In trying to determine a root cause, Google research indicates that a weak battery can possibly play a part in that. The only time I have ever had a weak battery was the first start after replacing the failed voltage regulator not too very long ago.
I can NOT definitively state that as the cause, but I can suggest that when replacing a broken VR, consider putting your battery on a charger prior to first start. It can't hurt, and it could conceivably help.
