Friday October 17th, and Saturday the 18th, Evergreen, Alabama, KZGH. Two runways, unicom (advisory only), fuel available. https://www.serfi.org/

The fly-in operates in partnership with the City of Evergreen's Annual Sausage Festival (https://www.evergreenareachamber.com/evergreen-sausage-festival.php), so you can definitely get a $100 Conecuh sausage, burger, or BBQ. Camp Friday and Saturday night if you like, or just buzz in on Saturday morning.

Now an appeal to the angels of your better nature...

At one time SERFI was a Huge Big Deal, with 400+ airplanes. It slipped badly during the covid years. Then it took hits from two IFR weekends in a row, and has never really recovered. Some of us would like to change that, and it can only happen with your support. Go to any online forum, and you'll read cries for "an old fashioned grassroots fly-in". Well, boys and girls, here it is, a small town airfield without complication, run by folks who want you to visit. No airshow, no Notams. Procedures? We would really like you to arrive from over by Monroeville (MVC) (because there is less drama when everyone enters the pattern from the same direction), but that's it.

So, can ya'll fire up those RVs and storm the place?

I’m definitely interested. You may want to let them know they should update their website to reflect 2025. Not 2024

Edit: I emailed Stan, the chairman, and he’ll update the events page to 2025

A few from our EAA chapter were thinking about it. Would love to see it get back to the way that it was.

SERFI is an awesome event and well worth your time to attend! I’m hoping to go again this year..

10 days to go...wash the bird, blow up the tires, get a kitchen pass, and set the recorder to save the football game for later.

Anyone know the actual time of the event? I know it Friday and Saturday but I'd like to know when arrivals can start and the arrival procedure as well.
When I try to view SERFI.ORG, it says I don't have permission to view the page. Checked their FB page and nothing there either.

Pilots, is there anything better than a cool fall morning and a good airplane?

SERFI in three days. It's your fly-in. See you there.

I went to the one back in 2013 or so. It was a good time!
Also, they had an avionics guy there doing pitot/static checks for about 1/2 what I was usually paying.

Paul, there's no official arrival time. Just come when you can. Breakfast is 7 to 10 on Saturday.

Arrivals are asked to approach from the Monroeville area.

I apologize on behalf of the folks who really want to reinvigorate the fly-in. Some changes are needed, but will require time and organization.

For now, let's just have some fun.

And land on 1/19 while staying on the West side of the field. That means left traffic for 01, right traffic for 19.

For what it is worth, the website is working for me, just takes a minute to load.

Was planning to attend this morning, but 4 OVC doesn’t work very well with RNAV minimums at 600-2. Hoping it lifts a little later this morning!

It is clear at Evergreen.

And the ground is as hard as rock for tent stakes…
