Received my QB fuse kit 3 months ago, and mounted the canopy today. Since I have to wait until May '26  for my engine, I won't fly for another year, but I will take it all to the hangar, mount the wings and tail, and have it ready for immediate mounting when the engine arrives. Amazing how much time is wasted by Vans and Lycoming...

Hello fellow RV-14 owners, happy Monday!

The RV grin is a thing when we finish our first flight but this weekend I was surprised with another grin moment, which honestly ,outlasted by a couple of days the original RV grin from first flight.

It happened in Gadsden Alabama, after picking up my plane with its fresh paint scheme completed by the amazing team from Evoke Aviation.

No words needed... I know I'm biased but I mean, just look at this beauty:

What an amazing design and paint work!

First , congrats on the beautiful plane! You'll get lots of compliments on it on every ramp. Second, yep, Jonathan does awesome work. He's painted two planes for me and will paint my -14 as well.

3 years, 6 months and 2 days from start to airworthiness certificate.

Vic Syracuse came over this morning and gave it a thorough inspection. I left one jam nut loose, for him to find, and he found it on the canopy latch system. Otherwise, it went well.

I could not have done this without the steadfast support of my wife. She held the house together, without complaint, while I spent countless hours at the hangar.

While I mostly worked solo, a core group of fellow builders and friends were always available to assist if needed, lend an ear or bounce ideas off of. To them, I'm eternally grateful.

One of the biggest learning points in this entire project was it takes a village. VAF played a substantial role.

Steve and Tom at Aircraft Specialties, Jason, Jason and Andre at Aerotronics, Ken and Susan at Sky Designs, Classic Aero Design,(Evoke in the future). This is a short list of unbelievable support that I used in this project. Simply the best. Always available and fantastic products.

That looks like a nice setup. Is that the 600 tires and larger tail wheel?

Congrats Phil! It's beautiful.

What did you use to label your sticks?

Thanks!

I used a credit card.....

Seriously, I bought them from Midwest Panel Builders who offer laser engraving on Tosten grips. The labels will never fall off.

Congrats!!! And very nice shop/hangar!

Wings installed. Just ordered the wing root fuel filter retrofit kit from Aircraft Specialty, because I like having a fuel shutoff right at the tank and two fuel filters instead of one:) Ailerons, Elevators and flaps rigged. It's getting real.
The FAA took my 5 bucks so I guess that means they're working on my registration paperwork. On year 12, She may actually fly this year! I still have a lot of work to do. Sadly it's really cold in NC and my hangar has no insulation to keep me warm. Three electric heaters doesn't work and kerosene heaters are a no no.
