Seeking CFI in South Florida for Comprehensive Return to Flight Training in New RV-10

After an extensive absence and limited time as PIC, I'm looking for a CFI for intensive instruction (multiple engagements a week) in my newly purchased RV-10.

Insurance Open PIlot (that I unfortunately already paid for!) requires 750 total hours & 25 hrs in Van's RV-10 as well as mandatory CFI with same for any transition training. It seems like it's impossible to find this experience in S. Florida, and since I have had little response to my post to the Regional Forums --> Florida (South) Forum, I am reposting here, along with my ad I put up at the local FBO.

Obviously, local is easier and preferred, but please DM me if possibly interested in travel and training at KBCT or F45 for up to a week, or as long as it would take to get me up to speed.

Hello sir, my name is Jared Banning. I’m a CFI, CFII, AGI. I’ve got 650 hours of total time with close to 200 hours in RV7, and RV9s. From an overall standpoint the 10 flies very similar to the 9. I do carry my own CFI insurance and could talk with you about doing some training. I’m located in California but could travel out. If interested give me a call at 618-339-9389.

Just FYI my insurance company allowed anyone with RV-14 time as RV-10 time. I guess because they were both considered hi performance and they do fly almost identical. (Provided weight is added in the baggage area for the 10)

Thanks for that information. I do have 25 hours of High performance time but not specifically in RV-14's. With the RV10 being a nose wheel airplane with the larger wing it flies like a mix of the 9 and the 14 in my expirence.

I am in Clearwater (KCLW) ------CFII/A&P, (at 86, just a hobby), built a -10, lots of -10, 6A, 8A, 7A time. Might be able to help.

Please note that most Open Pilot warrantees protect you, the owner, but not the cfi, unless there is a ‘waiver of subrogation’ (not too common). OTOH most companies will add a cfi (meeting their requirements) as an additional ‘named insured’. That’s what you want, it’s what I would require, call your agent and ask.
I’d be happy to help you out (I easily meet the requirements) but unfortunately I’m on the wrong coast, and cannot spend a week away at this point in time. But, there are cfi’s who own -10’s and meet the requirements, you just have to find them.
