Second Battery Location

Where and how did you mount your second battery?
I would like to add a back up battery system to the RV-7. Considering the weight, proceeding with caution.

First I have an RV-6
I remade the cover to my original box a bit wider and stuck two in there. Both are Odyssey size.
I think I had to add about 3/4" wider. No to bad a job bending up the metal with a small break.

2x PC680 mount

This is for RV-8, but I mounted 2 PC680 batteries together on the firewall. Problem free for 300+ hours. Battery contractors mounted below the tray. This is starboard side, just above lower engine mount. The batteries snugly sit side by side, with a 1/2" spacer between them and a typical U-channel hold down bracket over the top.

Mine is mounted basically same as stock main battery but on the left side of the firewall recess.
Restrictions on locating it were clearance from lt mag (if you have mags), prop gov cable & oil cooler mount & plumbing.
