Scratchy audio alerts on GARMIN G3X Touch.

Hey guys, I am getting scratchy audio alerts through my headset both while flying and if I test the function in config. I have g3x touch, gtr200,gnx375. This is apparently not a known issue but my hangar neighbor is experiencing the exact same issue. He has the same set up as I do except he has an mfd as well. I have tried all the things I’ve read on here, such as turning volumes up and or down in all the configuration menus for each device, nothing has worked. I’m wondering and hoping one of you have had the same issue and corrected it. Thanks.

I had the same issue. Audio alerts like 500, minimums, traffic, terrain and such were very distorted and scratchy on a new G3X screen. Garmin said it was a known problem and to exchange it under warranty. Since I had two screens, I swapped the mfd with the PFD and it fixed the problem so I never exchanged the screen

Yes those are the ones. That is weird, Garmin told me and my hangar neighbor that this is NOT a known issue and hadn’t heard of it before. I am now sadly out of warranty. Not sure how to feel about this with a 4500 dollar investment.

Garmin has always been quite accommodating when it comes to warranty, especially if it’s been a known problem. Try to confirm it’s actually the GDU and then give them a call. Even better would be let your dealer handle it for you.

If you call garmin experimental support they most likely will exchange it, usually they require a credit card payment to ship to you right away, and credit that back to you when they receive the defective screen. Contact them at (866) 739-5687 and follow the prompts for experimental . I’d explain the audio board is bad and you’d like it exchanged for a working one. It will be a slide in placement since the config module will hold are your settings and configurations

I had the same immediately after installing the GDUs. It only affected one of my GDUs, which made it easy to isolate the problem. Garmin were pretty good about it and replaced it under warranty.

There was an older software version (8.something) where the canned audio messages were less than pleasing (ed: sounded harsh and judgy like my ex-wife)

Out of curiosity, which software version are you using?

I will give that a try. I’ll report back what they say.
