RV10 Section 28-9 Spacer question

Hi,

I am looking at these spacers and thinking that, as a sea side resident, some anticorrosion treatment would be good. I would ordinarily scuff and lightly coat with SEM etching primer. Has anyone primed these and encountered stackup issues? Is there a “best” way to treat these spacers?

Thanks, Dennis

They are temporary -- no need to do anything to them. I still have mine 12 years after mating my wings. Half of that time they've sat in a open box in my hangar in Tampa. They look the same as the day I inventoried them out of the kit.

I see. I had not read that far ahead. That saves me a ton of time.

Thanks
But… to answer your question. Yes, any layer of “primer” will leave a finite layer of material in mils x2, now times the amount of spacers - there is your answer.

The spar is protected by an Anodized (electrolysis) process, “IF” I had a situation utilizing those spacer permanently, I would simply Alodine them, which is a chromate chemical conversion at a microscopic level. (Makes them a nice gold color too)
