RV10 Flap setting adjustment/s

Q - what method do people use for position setting for the flaps -
Digital level on the top or bottom surface ?
Or setup the level to parallel the flap cord line ?
We’re installing the ‘new’ PH flap motor & although motor (PH Av unit) is mounted, with shaft set at max travel for reflex position, when transitioning to full down flap it appears to be approx 40 degrees down. Is that ok?
TIA.

The builder’s manual lists minimum flap travel as 30 degrees and max travel as 33 degrees. I assume that includes the 3 degrees of reflex travel.

I used a digital level taped to the top of the flaps to set my stops.
I understand/know however …..
With reflex it’s understandable that you’d use the top skin of flap as flaps UP (nil/neutral pos) is having the trailing edge level with bottom of the fuselage.
So… when the flap is lowered the bottom skin is doing the ‘work’ against airflow - surely then the down ‘angles’ , of the bottom flap ‘skin’ are the ones to be used ? ?
I hope that makes sense ? 😉

You are overthinking it. Richard explains it above.

Hi, i am rigging the flaps but i didn't find the 30-33 degrees travel you are mentioning. Could you please point to the section of the manual where is is indicated? I found only the reference in Section 15 indicating 40-45 degrees. Asking because i cannot get more than 35 Degrees. thanks in advance for your advice. ciao paolo

It's in the final inspection and test flight section of the manual but I can't remember what section that is.
