RV-8 black hole cover

I found very little on the subject so proceeded on thru the fog and rolled my own.

Here is the template I made for a stick boot and cover the big hole around the stick. Although not finished, I wanted to share the template before it goes in the trash. So many people have helped me, it’s time to help back if they can use.

I still have to get a boot made, locate the screw holes on the flanges and cut the vent hole.

I even taught the neighbor some new words.

I didn't do it, but mine just has a boot inside the hole. There is Velcro around the edges and it goes in or out relatively easily.

Definitely need some kind of cover on that hole.

A shot of top coat and off it goes to the upholstery shop that covered my seats for the boot.

Perhaps someone at Vans sees this and they will make them available.

A must do for sure..

Nice job ! I did same for my RV-4..just the thought of a cell phone (camera) dropping into the stick well makes me cringe. I also put the rear seat underwing vent plumbed to the the stick well, and it provides a ton of air. Simple weekend project for nice finish and peace of mind.
