RV 14 Elevator close out tab

DonF

I'm New Here
9-04 Step one calls for the top skin to be bent 1/64" from the bend line. Then step two calls for the lower skin to be bent 1/32" from the bend line. This seems backwards as when assembled the top skin goes over the top of the bottom skin tab.

Unless the 1/64" and 1/32" are away from the line in the direction toward the middle of the trim tab. (I don't have the plans in front of me now.)

I've built two per plans, and it worked like it should with the overlaying, holder, and pop rivets. I see what you mean, but I didn't put that much thought and did what the plans said. Hopefully this helps.

These are close ups of my second elevator. (first was LCP and was scrapped)

I messed this up when building my -7 (too much air pressure) and ended up cutting the flanges off and making a wedge piece that was riveted in.
