I have a question, the ASTM bars any SLSA from flying in IMC, you can fly an IFR flight plan, but it must be in VMC. I'm wondering if this includes E-LSAs such as the RV-12.

Any answer is greatly appreciated.

The original rv12 (red one) is an SLSA which is req to preceed an ELSA. The ELSA is experimental and can be used for IFR with the proper part 91 equip and a qualified pilot. The ATSM ban is on certified SLSAs and current ones are grandfathered
