Tanya and I officially became "Repeat Offenders" today with the order faxed to the mother ship for a nice shiny new RV8 empennage and wing kit. Yippee! I can't wait to get building again. It looks like I'm going to have to learn to fly with the little wheel on the other end of the fuselage in a few years.
This build is going to be a full "standard" build -8. We just love riveting that much . I'm thinking about a Show Planes fastback, Grove main gear, an IO-390, Hartzell BA, and all the electric toys I can stuff in it. We're going to take this build a little slower and just enjoy the process in our new shop.
No, I didn't build the "wrong" airplane first! My freshly minted -9A (120 hrs so far) is a blast to fly and is a real traveling machine. It needs paint but I don't think I can let it go to the paint shop until I have something else to keep me occupied. I had fully intended to build a -10 next, until I found that 80% of my flight time ended up to be solo. When the -8 is done, we're planning on keeping both airplanes. Tanya will then take primary ownership of the -9A. Giddyup!
