I’ve had my red cube after the engine fuel pump on my O-540 high on the fire wall with a 90 degree fitting on the outflow side which then drops down to the carb. I know. Two bad things: a 90 degree and the outflow should not drop down right after the cube. MP and fuel flow are a little irregular, at low rpm they fluctuate about one of MP and at 2200 or high they fluctuate a lot less. There is no engine surging and no change in CHT or EGT. I’d like to fix this. Has anyone put the red cube right down in front of the carb? I know heat shielding might be necessary. But I like the idea because it eliminates the 90 degree, the drop after the cube and cuts the length of the total fuel line after the pump by more than half. Thoughts? Insults?
