Rear Seat Vent Delete?

My -10 is at the paint shop. They are asking if I want to cover (eliminate) the rear seat vents.

I had never contemplated doing so. I have the Aerosport interior panels with the vent option (not yet installed).

I have air conditioning and realistically will infrequently have rear seat occupants.

The paint shop said most clients choose to have the vents covered over. One person suggested a reason for doing so is to eliminate a source of water ingress.

I have to make a decision pretty quickly, so I'm just looking for feedback.

Things I'm not considering? Reasons to eliminate the vents? Reason to keep them?

I've been contemplating covering mine too. I'd also like to hear the pros/cons of covering them.

My short answer is no. I found them to be effective when I flew with rear passengers. Never had a water leak problem. Perhaps the paint shop did not want the hassle of removing them for paint and then reinstalling.

I had mine covered by the interior for the 1st year. A few "incidents" taught me that fresh air stabilizes young stomaches.

Mine are back to being functional and the kids are much happier passengers.

Also no water issues.

No AC in my 10 but I covered mine over. I have the Aerosport overhead console so rear pax can use the vent up there. I’d do it again if I built another 10.

Another vote to retain and no water issues either. My guess is if someone had water issues they forgot or didn't see a vent was open when they left the plane.

Turned my vents into wing walk lights (my son’s suggestion) using small LED panels. Hot battery bus powered, along with one cabin overhead and the AeroLED’s AerosunVXi wingtip mounted inspection lights. Gives great illumination for a walk around and for passenger boarding. I have a/c plus rear NACA vents to feed fresh air to the overhead console. No provision in our Aerosport side panels for vents so I thought this was a good use of the vents.

Thanks for the feedback, gents.

Decision made. I told the paint shop to keep the vents functional.
If you do, then your interior has to have access to work them. I never use them, with the Aerosport overhead console with eyeballs for front and back.
