Rats nest. What would you do?

Well I’ve got a bunch of wires connected at the inside of the wing root. I left myself extra wire so I can pull it out and service it someday and give myself some wiggle room. My thought is to put the bunch in an insulated/fireproof bag or container and zip tie the whole bunch to the floor between the seat ribs.

That's not a rat's nest. Check out almost any telephone demark or pedestal. I've had to clean up more than one.
That's pretty neat already. I would use industrial velcro to bundle and secure and leave it. Not sure a bag is necessary.
 
I wouldn’t call that a rats nest.

I built and tested everything in my workshop so I used Deutsch connectors to
make it neat.
 
I would wire tie the snot out of that loop to get it as small and tight as possible, then secure it to that seat rib with a couple of adel clamps. As long as nothing is rubbing I don't see why any sort of bag or whatever would be desired.
 
Technically called a "service loop" when you stow excess wire. better than tightly strung connections for many reasons. Make it one bundle, or separate into smaller coils and zip tie together, Wrapping not required, but make sure it is not flailing or chaffing. Anything to prevent movement, and tie wraps will make it fairly rigid. I have both bundles and loops.

I'm trying to contain myself as I write this. We have an RV-10 in the shop that is having heading issues, along with some intermittents. Configuration is a G3X (non-touch). Removing the PFD show's a real rat's nest of wiring behind it. Finally found the ADAHRS after a lengthy search. It...

BTW...look very carefully at that push rod and the rib. It may be a fluke of the camera angle and lighting, but it looks like it's resting on the rib......

On my old Warrior we removed an enormous rat’s nest of wires from behind the panel and discovered it *wasn’t attached anywhere to anything*. Through some lengthy process of periodic labor and upgrades, it had become entirely detached and was just sitting back there. Like finding a snake skin - creepy.

The pushrod is not fully installed yet but thanks. It will be tucked well under the pushrod when done.
