Radiator hose

Folks,
in the manual on page 46is-02 the call is to remove the preformed radiator hose. That's fine but is there a trick to this task? I can squeeze the spring clamp but cannot get the hose to budge. Any help would be most appreciated

If you want useful answers, you need to learn to give more info. I'm assuming you have an RV 12?? When I have issues on a customers vehicle regarding the issue you describe, I do the following. I spray the exterior of the hose around the clamp with penetrating oil. That will ease moving the spring clamp over the hose, away from the radiator stub. I then use a cotter pin or radiator hose tool to pry up the edge of the hose from the stub. I then spray penetrating oil into the gap created by inserting the cotter pin tool. I work the cotter pin tool around the ID of the hose and spray more oil between the stub and hose. This greatly reduces the amount of effort required to remove the hose without damage to either the hose or radiator. See

Squeeze and hold the spring clamp open and slide the clamp along the hose so it is clear of the hose fitting. Then grab the hose with your hand and twist and wiggle it back and forth and it should come off.

And these cable-operated hose-clamp pliers are super helpful for those 1” hose clamps.

Avoid the temptation to cut the hose off with a knife. Doing this is makes it far too easy to damage the soft aluminum tubing. As noted above use hose picks and lubricant and perhaps some mild heat.

I was thinking it would have helped if he had specified which radiator hose. A photo would also help, as then I know how much clearance or lack thereof he has to work with.

I just mounted my Rotax a couple weeks ago and went through the process of removing that hose. I removed the two coil packs and unplugged another wire connector that allowed some room to work with. A straight slip joint pliers was easy enough to move the clamp off the nipple and then I grabbed the bottom end of the hose to twist and wiggle side to side. It came off easier the I thought.
