R-917 shim

The R-902 spar and R-405PD have 5 holes that line up with the R-917 shim. The instructions and blueprint only call out for drilling the 3 lower holes. Has anybody drilled and riveted the top two holes?IMG_2693.jpeg

This question was asked around 2021/2022. Vans replied that there was commonality between parts. The horn shown is used with the 14 as well as those two additional holes. You can choose to rivet them with the same size rivets as mentioned in the plans or leave them unriveted.

Rudder horn/reinforce plate extra hole

Before I hit up vans tech support, does anyone know what these extra holes are for. They are not drilled through the spar yet. I don’t see them listed on the plans anywhere. My assumption is for something later but I don’t know. This is for an RV 7, feel free to move this to the 7 room, but I...
