R-1011 Rudder fairing

I'm using Ziptips for my lighting system, so I was thinking about modifying my rudder fairing to remove area for the tail light. I was planning to just cut out the area where marked and fill with glass and epoxy. I can't find any good pictures of the tail that shows that somebody else has done this, but if you can think of a good reason not to do this, let me know.

Seems like a nice clean-up thing to do and exactly what I am planning.

It should lighten up the rudder, and actually shift the rudder balance slightly forward as well (assuming you don’t go hog-wild with the fiberglass job) :)

Finished lower rudder fairing

I finally finished my lower rudder fairing. Pretty happy with the results. As an added bonus, it's about one ounce lighter than when I started.
