Hello fellow builders. I don’t know about everyone else, but during the building of my RV8, I keep my eye out to save $$ wherever I can. I want to see if a number of us builders (or those already flying, who might need a new governor) would consider banding together and getting in on the offer that Chris Hutchings from Aircraft Propeller Service has put together for our VAF group.
The company has posted price targets based on how many sign up for the units. I like the free market…. Is this post somewhat self-serving....yes...I want to get as much savings as I can for my project and thought if folks chime in on a thread of interested buyers it may result in the benefit of all involved ($1550 normally - $1085 potentially!). That is saving some decent $$$$ and getting great value for a quality product!
Chris says it is a smaller, lighter weight unit than many production governors. It responds quicker to inputs because it is designed with higher oil flow. Also, a certified governor will cost almost as much....or more than the purchase price when it is time to overhaul it - whereas, the PCU5000 is made to be rebuilt more economically than others.
My reasoning is this: I WILL have a constant speed prop.....I WILL need a governor....I WILL be buying a governor. I know PCU5000 is an American company (since 1953...which I buy American as much as possible) and a VAF advertiser . I am just now ordering my finishing kit….but it is still worth buying now to save some good money for other items I need for my project!
So maybe we can Price Cut thru Unity!
