Hi Gang,

I’m confused by Step 5 on 9-24.

"Step 5: Apply tank sealant to the region where the E-00907-L-1/-R-1 Rear Spars meet the skins, in the outboard bay of each elevator. Follow Page 09-20 Steps 7 through 9. Insert the bent tube through the lightening holes of the E-00902-L-1/-R-1 Front Spar in order to reach the front of the Rear Spar.

Didn’t I already do this on Page 9-20? What does “in the outboard bay of each elevator ” mean? And why would I access rear spar thru the lightning holes in the front spar if this was accomplished on Page 9-20?

Thanks!

9-24 is where you finish the area that isn’t in 9-20. 9-20 doesn’t have you do the area (in 9-20 step 8) where you haven’t riveted yet. Those areas are riveted by 9-24 step 5.

Exactly as lipper03 said. You didn't (shouldn't have) apply Proseal to the outboard areas during the original step. Look at my EAA Buider Log & pics, see June 14th 2025. Notice the blue tape.
The final Proseal is applied after the elevators get final riveted. I used a large syringe with a long rigid straw to apply & smoothed with a long rounded wooden popsicle stick
