Piano Hinge. I love it. the plans show an eyelet at each end of the 26" piece. i don't think its possible for it to be cut that way??? Ours has a some of the "flat" at the end. Are we wrong? Pictures below.

Hinge problem

I had the same problem. My advice is to install the hinge the way that will give the best support to the cowl. Do what you think is correct. This is not a critical part. I called Van's support in the past about the plans saying to cut the seat hinge a certain length which resulted in the hinge not matching the picture. The hinge needed to be cut a half inch longer. Their response was that I should have cut the piece out of the middle of the hinge instead of measuring from the end.

I agree, it seems that no matter where you start measuring from, an eyelet will only be left at one end of the hinge.

Umm, drill a new eyelet?
