Oil Filter Capacity?

Tried searching everywhere, but any searches typically talk about sump capacity and the level at which oil is lost faster due to being blown out the breather. I want to know how much actual oil goes into a typical Lycoming IO-360 oil filter.

Specifically I am using these:

When I change my oil, I add 7 qts. It's hard to read exact levels unless it has been sitting a while and cold, so I don't know how much of that is consumed by filling the filter right after running it.

I was assuming a bit less, but it would be favorable for me if it was that much (trying to gauge oil consumption on a newish engine)
At oil and filter change, fill to 7 quarts, run to check for leaks... let set for an hour or so. Top off to 7 quarts.
Check oil level when cold before each flight to figure consumption of last flight.

I would guess that around half a quart goes in the 110 filter; I just did an oil change and the 109 filter that I use, which is longer than the 110, used about 26 ounces to prefill the filter...
The identical price makes me wonder if I have the firewall clearance to slap an IO-540 filter on my 360.

This is basically what I do, except I'm a little cavalier about it and willing to go fly right off the bat. I'm on track to do ~6-7 oil changes a year, so it's hard to be too anal about it (though I do understand the concerns).

I try not to maintain 7qt in the sump, because it blows it overboard at a higher rate. I'm shooting for ~6 right now, but experimenting with 5.0-6.5 to determine rate of consumption after the overhaul. I'm about 1/3 of the way to my 3rd oil change on the new engine.

Try to keep as much h oil in the engine as possible especially in the hot weather, it helps to keep the temps down.

I run my O320 not above 5 qts, usually between 4-5, at oil filter replacement time I fill to 6 qts with an M/T filter and let it find its own happy operating level. I don’t lose any sleep over how much it uses as long as it’s within specs👍Each to their own👍

I have a monster oil cooler. It has no trouble with temps. I'm trying to figure out where the "set point" is for blowing it out the breather (even with oil separator)...
It isn't so much as the size of the oil cooler, it's job is to cool the oil. One of the jobs of the oil it to take to heat from the engine to the oil cooler. If the oil is kept on the lower side the low volume of oil is not as efficient in removing the heat.

I have the parallel valve IO-360, and its happy place is right around six quarts of oil. If I go seven, it blows it out pretty quickly.

As far as what oil the filter holds, it can vary. If you have a remote oil filter (like an Airwolf), it sits upright and can hold close to a quart. If you have the type engine mount that the filter is almost upside down, then most drains back out. Then there's probably the most common that mounts horizontally, and it holds somewhere in between the two styles.

Only two oil changes so not much experience. I add 7 at oil change and leave till next day. Pull the stick and make a mental note of level. Almost 7. After first run, I do the same next morning. That's my reference point. The stick reads just above 6. Difference is in the filter for what it's worth. She is happiest at 6 and typically blows the rest overboard.
