Oh my, what do we have here? Static Port intruder.

The importance of inspecting those static lines. Hard to tell but appears to be a very small winged creature.
Since my lines are currently disconnected, I was able to suck this right out with my “wonder gun”.

Funny! … but it was purdy much dead.

One advantage of the old school static ports is the visibility of the tubing. I have the Dynon kit and was contemplating an upgrade, then this. With the Dynon ports, you have a 90deg. fitting. I would have never seen this.

I will be doing a complete pitot static test when I get all of the plumbing done. If these old ports test out, they’ll stay. Even if they don’t, I’ll freshen them up and keep the old pop rivets. They’ve been in there 20 years and always tested ok.
 
In addition to the pitot tube cover, I used the mandrel from the MSP-42 rivet to plug the static ports when I'm not flying.

To make the plugs, I heated the mandrel with a plumbers torch to cherry red, then put a bend-loop in one end, tie each end together with a nylon string and a "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" streamer.

I hate the "biologics" -- I crushed a fuel tank because of a mud dauber once (I was "that" guy -- Van's RVator 2008, 3rd issue...https://www.vansaircraft.com/rvator/)
