Moab, Arches National Park

Anyone flown Moab, Arches National Park lately? We are planning mid May and would like to fly. Interested in service and fees at Moab, what motels you like. I think we can only use Enterprise rental car, which is OK. No response from Red Lands FBO. RV6A for 5 days.
Thanks,

Flew into KCNY Canyonlands Regional late April last year and met family that had driven. We visited Arches for 3 days. Had the same problem contacting the FBO. Left several messages and never got a callback. Eventually got someone on the phone. They are primarily an air tour company, I think, so the desk didn’t seem to be manned unless they had a tour scheduled. We self parked away from the FBO in a row of GA. In front of the FBO was active tour operations.

Glamped (fancy tent camping, with bathroom and shower) at Under Canvas Moab. Fun and would do it again. Good location between the airport and Arches.

Would highly recommend making entry reservations for Arches. Big wait at the entrance if you don’t. Check the National Park Service website and try to reserve the minute reservations open for your time slot. They also have entry slots open 24 hours prior and you have to snag those fast as well. Cell reception was spotty tent camping so having our Starlink helped.

We also visited Deadhorse State park which we liked and was good for a half day visit.

Using the trail jeep instead of an enterprise rental markedly increases the option of activities. Did 3 day rentals on a couple of different occasions.
+1 for the jeep rental
You get a lot more of the canyonland experience with the Jeep rental.

Visited in 2023. Agree with the Jeep rental. There are several rental outfits in town. Most will deliver to the airport and pick up after you leave. A jeep allows you to explore much more and get off the beaten trail. The rental outfits will give you maps and advice on the best places to see. We were able to enter Arches through a back country trail and skip the wait at the entrance.

Was there in October (2025) to canoe the Green River. Yes, Red Lands FBO is pretty unresponsive. Park, for free, away from Red Lands and the terminal by the outer hangars. For shuttle to town, get hold of Shane (801-603-5555). Was $80 each way. He’ll also take you on backcountry tours. He’s quite the desert character.

I stayed at the Hyatt Place and recommend Birdy’s Finer Diner for dinner.
Overall, IMO, Moab is a tourist dump. I’d do your stuff (ie- get in Arches Park before sunrise) way before the hordes stir.
