Shout out to Ken Nimer (local KMLD A&P) his mom & his dad, Dave!

They bailed me out yesterday when I lost right brake fluid on my RV-4 during a fuel stop. Zero right brake resulted in a challenging but thankfully no structural-damage landing.

Stuck there on a quiet Mothers Day Sunday. Figuring it would be a long-term stay then Dave shows up to check on his hangar, saw my predicament and called his son Ken away from a Mothers Day commitment. Long story short, they had the tools, parts, experience, and most importantly the willingness to figure out a hours-long repair. In the process they provide lots of entertaining stories of their experiences flying the ID backcountry.

What could have been a real debacle turned into a fun afternoon hangar flying & thankfully a safe flight home last evening.

Reaffirmed my faith in the GA & home-built community!

What failed?
Brake line near the top of the leg chafed over time, finally did things in on landing yesterday. It wasn't a spot readily accessible for inspection. Sadly sometime during it's history since 1985 an owner thought it would OK to use electrical tape to hold the line in position against the leg with no chaffing protection. Needless to say inspecting the other leg is a high priority.
