Mexican Mountain PIREP?

Anyone been to Mexican Mountan UT, recently or ever? What are the conditions there in general and specifically this time of year? RV-6 with old style (not tight clearance) wheelpants, looking for a cool place to RON in that region.

A suggestion: Reach out to EAA1373 in Delta, CO. Highly skilled UT backcountry pilots in the membership, who take annual trips to Mexican Mountain and can brief on all the nuances.

I visited this past weekend. Challenging. East end is soft but not muddy. Leave the wheel pants at home.

Last year flew over, but didn't land:

The usable area looked too short for my comfort. Be sure your spot landing at minimum speed are up to it.

It is in a wilderness study area, so if you break the plane, you will need to helicopter it out. Did once talk to a pilot that had to do that after stalling short of the runway there.
