maintaining tire pressures..........

no, I looked on Amazon and bought the most bought one there. about $70. it filled 80 psi with no problem. set the desired pressure and it stops automatically. rated to 115 psi.

Ed,
Does the right angle filler come off so you can go straight in through the wheel pant?

I just bought one like this and it works well if the wheel pants are off, although some pressure is lost while unscrewing the connector. I have little doors on my pants, so I need to find a way to get a 6-8" straight filler pipe on the device. Nothing obvious comes to mind. Methinks I will need to use my regular compressor and hose in the hangar, and carry the mini unit to inflate a tire if/when I have a flat away from home.

I take the pants off to air them up.
I see what you did there 🙃

These tiny pumps tend to overheat and take a really long time to inflate a car tire even by a few psi. I guess it's less of a problem for the RV volume. i wonder if they use safe for aviation lithium chemistry. if they gonna bounce in the flight bag they better not spontaneously ignite.

Costco - $39.95 or something like that. Straight tip - but threaded, so you’d need access past wheel pants if installed. (Sorry not in photo) Works great - Very quick, no effort filling. In regards to Lithium concerns, I don’t fly with this. A light, compact, quality bicycle pump goes in my flight kit.

Is that the one that is $33.99 for a limited time regularly $59.99 at the big A store?
Hi Gary,
I’m one month into being an RV-6 owner.
I have a sticky Doug Bell tailwheel.. It has definite problems. Could I throw a few things by you? Please feel free to DM me. I have about 15s of video that illustrates my dilemma. I’m gonna solve this but gotta start crawling before I can run… or fly, for that matter.

Thanks,
Kevin

To avoid taking this thread completely off topic, start a new thread with your inquiry. There is a lot of info in the archives on servicing tail wheels, this is an issue that is easy to resolve.

Enjoy your new ride!

While these are great things to have around, I prefer the inflator tool from Ryobi because I can swap in a fresh battery when the previous one is depleted. I have one of these at home and one at the hangar. I'm almost embarrassed to say how infrequently my 115V air compressors are used now that I have these battery-powered ones. The battery-powered units may take a little longer to fill the tire but they are so much easier to use. By the time one gets out the big compressor, plugs it in, unwinds its air hose etc etc the inflation job could have been done twice over with a battery-powered unit.
