Looking for opinions - Aerosport RV-10 Quad Arm Rest

For those that have installed the Aerosport Arm rest with a throttle quadrant, did you go with the Aerosport supplied quadrant?

Do you love em or hate em? Specific complaints or kudos?

Thanks,

Dennis

I love the center armrest and console - both appearance and function. My only complaint (and it's not the fault of the console) - is that I have fat legs and it can be difficult to get full right aileron deflection from the left seat. As to the quadrant, I used the Aerosport two-lever version as I have SDS fuel injection and don't need a mixture lever.

Also really like mine. I thought I might have difficulty transitioning from the traditional panel mounted throttle and prop to this, but it became very natural to adjust. BTW ACS sells a small enough halon extinguisher that fits inside the armrest even with 2 Bose A20 controllers inside.

Since readers are asking the model number is Amerex A384T, 1.4lb Halotron I Class B C Fire Extinguisher, found on ACS and AMZ.

We were just doing a test fit today. I built the seats early so my pilot wife could sit in the left seat and try it. In short, I'll be selling ours. Formation flying requires constant throttle adjustments, and with the seat far enough forward for rudders, she doesn't like the angle for her shoulder. It's too far back. If you're taller, the ergonomics may be better. I'm a little bit the opposite, but since I don't have my license yet, we'll be switching to panel mount throttle, probably push-pull like our Cheetah. I can live with my elbow out in the breeze for short formation flights or climbout/landing, which are the times I need constant throttle attention. PM me if interested. On second thought i suppose I could repurpose that hole for the oxygen system.... (thinking cap on) Oh and also, the plastic lid on the armrest isn't too strong. Maybe it will be sturdier after being padded and wrapped.

"Plastic lid" plenty strong enough. I lift my 220 lbs. up and out with it. Many RVs with a throttle quadrant's fly competition aerobatics but it's not for everyone (or every woman) so build what you want. I don't see many 10's formation flying. Go to classified and list for sale, you'll find multiple buyers.

How about the quality of the quadrant?

Is there ample friction lock options and do they work?

I had a Baron where things would kinda randomly move in the quadrant. Be nice if the offered quadrant does not elicit complaints.

The supplied thumbscrew works very well and is easily adjusted.

Dwight,

That interior looks fantastic. Love the heated seat controls. Did you pull those out of your Cadillac? 😁

I'm also interested in this. I bought one a few days ago. Could we get some more pictures of interiors? The two above look really nice. I'm looking for inspiration.

I have stick covers installed now. I’m 6’1” so the quadrant fits me like a glove. Excellent ergonomics for me. The friction lock works great as well.

Keith

We have the center console and Aerosport 3-lever quadrant in our RV-10 and love it. I mounted the headset jacks and USB power ports inside for a clean installation. I agree that shorter pilots might find the throttle position too far aft for comfort, but on my 6'2" frame it fits comfortably. I could not bear to paint over the pretty carbon fiber, so I finished my center console, 310 panel, and overhead console in clear coat over the carbon fiber. I love the carbon-gray color accents in an overall tan interior. I looked for pictures, but I can't find any showing the center console in use! Will have to rectify that oversight.
