I have a 2008 kit that I finished in 2009. I did the SB 14-8-29 in 2014. I also monitor the SB 19-09-09 and have no issues. I am changing out my 540 soon and wondering if I should be upgrading the mount and nose gear. If that was a good idea, it would be the easiest at engine swap. I can't see how I would notice any difference with one over the other so I am thinking that is a pointless project. Those that have flown both, do you notice anything different?

I’ve flow both. No difference as far as I can tell flying it other than a slight difference in the angle of the engine/fuselage as noted in the rudder cruise trim required and the orientation of the cowl to the spinner.

The new mount is a bit beefier than the prior design. I swapped my original mount/link/gearleg that was the same vintage as yours for the new one. Vans offers this as a “kit”.

Thread discussing the play my mount/gear leg had here.
