Around the patch for 40 minutes or so. 30kts from the N and bumpy below 2,100', but 1) glad to be able to get off the ground here on the last day of the year and 2) grateful to have an RV and RV friends in my world.

Hope you have a very Happy New Year and a happy 2025.

Lake Lewisville dam looking N. Easy to tell where the wind is coming from.

FF screen grab after. I have friends at 6X8 and T38, so might as well take a shot at them hearing a visit.

Waiting patiently for the next flight <g>.

You lucky dog, Doug! Solid fog in Oregon and I’d love to go for a flight! Happy New Year!

Too slippery to taxi to the runway need a tow truck.

Enjoyed almost one hour dodging the snow storms in surprisingly smooth air.

Tried to taxi back home, slid and got stuck. Tow truck again to the rescue...

It was a good year. Next will be even better. Happy New 2025th all!

Couldn’t let a day without wind (wind before winter Sierra storms - every three days…..) go without a chance to get airborne one last time before 2025…. Tsamsiyu got the nod because he was up front, and the Valkyrie is in the heated workshop….and all the heat would go away if I opened the door!

No pics, but preceded Tsam's Tahoe flyby after getting cheap gas at Carson City. Then, in light of recent events, reminded myself what to think about during no flap landings. Once back, I started an oil change without checking oil stock .

Flew the Grandkid. First time I put the stick in. He’s 14, and been flying with me since he could get in the airplane.
I was amazed at how well he held altitude, heading, and his coordination in turns. Better than any first timer I have had. His instrument scan and situation awareness was impressive. I just said “go that way”, and sat back and watched for traffic.

DR,
Did the same. Despite a blustery day, continued my phase 1.
Great way to finish the year.
