Is the wing spar crate useful later in the build?

My wing kit finally arrived! And the spar crate is loooooooong. Is it potentially useful later into the build? Wondering if I should get rid of it or flatten and keep it for a while.

With all the boxes from a kit there is enough material to build a work bench.

That 1/4" plywood they use in some crates is really handy. The stuff with a smooth facing on one side. I wish mine was not damaged by water in my last hangar. I finally ran out making stuff out of it.

My finishing kit crate turned into storage shelves until I used all the parts. Then it was donated to the burn pile. Maybe you can cut and stack the pieces.

I feel I'm quickly running out of space for another work bench 😅
If you feel you might be running out of space, remember that once your wings are finished you need to store them somehow, likely upright. I used something like this before I found a hangar where space wasn’t an issue anymore.

Save the crate! Makes a great central piece for wing stands. Sorry, the photo is gone. Outriggers with casters, vertical pieces from other Van's crates, tow straps hanging down to stubs on the ends of the outriggers to hold the wings. I even stored my tailcone on top above the wings while building the fuselage central section.

Crates also turned into a rotisserie (also on casters) for painting the fuselage, and the bottom 1/3 of the paint booth.

Mine got turned into a new 13' planter box in the yard. The skin box became new shelves in my existing storage racks.
It's fun to see a vans logo out in the garden, which reminds me I still need to paint it.

This 65 ft wing skin crate from a 737 repair we did made a whole bunch of good stuff! Never throw away "free" wood!

All wood is useful and you will use it... for many things, find a dry place and store it... I used all my crates over the years for one thing or the other.

I'm going to build a wing storage cradle/rack with my spar crate with some casters. So far I have found a use for all my vans crates. I never thow out good wood. I made a nice wing construction table from my empenage crate. Turned it upside down and surfaced it with a sheet of melamine.

Thank you for the great advices. I'm convinced I'll make good use of the wood! Time to practice some woodworking skills.
