Is it a pen holder, a phone holder or a back scratcher?

The previous owner mounted the fire extinguisher on the slanted surface between the pilots feet and the copilots feet. See photo. I didn’t like it there. I kept hitting into it. When I removed it, I found this small corrugated piece of aluminum between the two sticks on the floor. Is it there for a reason? Does everyone have this? It actually looks like a good place for a pencil, but my new carpeting is going to cover it right up or I’d have to remove it and put it on top of the carpeting. I don’t really think I need it but before I remove it, I am asking the experts. Also, Does everyone mount their fire extinguisher behind the seats? Is that the preferred spot? Thanks.

The corrugated piece is the lower part of an optional chart holder box offered by Van's. Not really needed in your case.

Unless you still use paper Sectional Charts and you reinstall the chart holder box minus the extinguisher bracket
;)

It originally came with the D100 dual display kit way back when.

I still have the map tray components, unused. If someone can give it a good home it will be free, you pay shipping approx. $20. PM me if you want it and we can make arrangements.
