I've noticed that my exhaust pipes are too close together - touching or nearly touching. When idling, when the engine vibrates the most, I've heard them rattle together. I don't see any visible wear, but I would like to move them apart a bit. Looking at how they are mounted, I think I can loosen the spring-bolt exhaust flange, and rotate the pipes outward without having them impinge on the engine mount. But, I'm relatively new to Van's aircraft and piston engines, and before I loosen something spring-loaded, I'm hoping I can get some advice. Anything particularly tricky about these joints that I should be aware of? Pics below.
Finally, while looking at this exhaust, I noticed that the ring at the end of the heater muff is broken. I would order a replacement exhaust heat muff from Van's (https://store.vansaircraft.com/2-exhaust-heat-muff-vent-dl-05-2.html?qty=1), but they're out of stock. Any idea if there's a way to replace just that piece? (see pic).
Thanks!
Matt
