Interior Trim

For those who have installed the interior canopy trim panels and the glareshield, in what order did you install them? I’ll be (finally) completing this when the plane comes back from the paint shop in a few weeks. When I test fit them a while back, it looked like the best fit was with the glareshield overlapping the canopy trim, but it was hard to tell whether I was holding them in exactly the correct orientation. Be nice to see what others have done. Pictures would be a plus!

Thanks - that’s what I had in mind. Looks like you used screws instead of rivets and ProSeal to attach the glare shield to the frame - I like that!

#6-32 screws only, no adhesive for easy removal. I skim coated the under side with fiberglass filler and sanded for a smoother finish, as the one I received was pretty rough on the underside. Then spray painted it. On the top I used a 6’ x 4” strip of adhesive-backed loop side of hook & loop fabric to eliminate reflections off the top of the shield. And a piece of edge guard to dress it up. Worked out quite well.

Looks good. I sanded the underside smooth and put on a couple of layers of neat epoxy, and painted the top and bottom with low-gloss black. Also added an edge guard. Nice idea with the Velcro on top - lets you stick things to it, too.

I tried a couple different flat paints, but they all reflected. I was glad I secured it with screws so I could easily make changes. Hopefully your paint will do better than mine.
