Interference between canopy frame and forward skin

The aft edge of the forward top skin of my RV-8 is slightly interfering with the forward part of my canopy frame. The skin is mostly binding at the top aft corner and hits the forward bow of the canopy frame. It also slightly overlaps the forward rib of the canopy frame, which will interfere with the skirt when I attach it.

Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, did you trim the skin forward slightly to fix it?

Yeah, this caught me by surprise. Every RV-8 I looked at had the skin trimmed to some extent. Here's pics of how I did it.

The scrap that I used to protect the substructure was from some stainless that I had used elsewhere .
