IF there is a G4X, would you?

Would you go with the latest/greatest or stick with a G3X for your build?

Would you go with the latest/greatest or stick with a G3X for your build? You would have to assume the G3X’s will be accessible with a lower cost

If someone knows how to make a poll go for it.

New build, no avionics on order? I'd go G4X. At the end of the day, that hardware will have a 10 year longer runway for replacement parts than the G3X and will add more value to your airplane because there are lots of buyers out there who don't want "last year's stuff".

I'm mid-build and planning on upgrading if there's an option. I won't want to build a "2027" year model plane with outdated parts. But I'm a tech nerd, and I know that most people may not care.

I installed dual G3X's in my -14 last month. If the replacement is easy (no serious panel or wiring mods required) I would replace them in a heartbeat. I've got nothing better to do anyway while I sit here waiting impatiently for my engine...

Most new builds tend to install the latest. There will be some upgraders, and some that take advantage of the upgraders to install recently superseded equipment at a discount.
I’ve done 3 panel upgrades over the years and IMHO you get maximum value for your older equipment (minimum trade up cost) the earlier you do it.
I expect there will be plenty of GDU460s up for sale if the “upgrade path” is straightforward.
But who knows. If there’s Coms and/or navigators involved that require extensive panel or wiring rework then many won’t upgrade.
